You're the Tigers? I thought we were the Tigers! Oh, we are...wait...what?

I don't know which came first...the LSU Tigers or the Auburn Tigers, but they are both lame. What is up with SEC teams naming themselves after other SEC teams? Mississippi State is the worst...they stole Georgia's Bulldogs, their mascot (Bully? Come on...he wishes he was Uga, and not stuck being a mascot in Starkville, MS), and their hedges! Uga (right) can only shake his head from his air-conditioned house. Today as we stay indoors, avoiding the swarms of love bugs outside, we'll be making We're The Tigers Too! Cajun Shrimp Soup. It was either that or some type of road kill.

Let's revisit Last Saturday morning in Austin..

This is the first 8 minutes of the ESPN College Gameday from last Saturday, September 9 in Austin. It was here that our Ohio State Buckeyes came into hostile territory with over 40,000 Buckeye nation fans to take on the #2 Texas Longhorns and beat them in an awesome 24-7 victory in a night game. It's great to relive that morning with Chris, Lee and Kirk on College Gameday. Enjoy! Go Bucks!

This week's college football

Last weekend we had some great games and we had some not-so-great games. My Buckeyes beat the #2 team in the country, Texas, in their own house! It was also a thing of beauty to see Lance Armstrong and Matthew McConaugheybe all loud at the beginning then totally shut up at the end of that game as the Buckeye Nation was in full force. At the same time in a little place in South Carolina, Jenny's Georgia Bulldogs were putting a spank to Steve Spurrier. Man, was he pissed off. You could see it in his face. He had a face worth a million dollars. My friends Jack from Chicago and Sarah from Cincy were at the Notre Dame/Penn State game earlier in the day, each of them rooting for a different team. I don't know if they got their money's worth. While my friend Jon was probably about to have a stroke and a heart attack as he sat in the stands watching his Florida State Seminoles survive against - what was it, Troy? - in Tallahassee. Thanks to the ESPN Gameplan, Jenny and I were treated to the Iowa/Syracuse game and the Clemson/Boston College game and, man, the ends of those were insane. When I can finally get an HD flat panel, I'm going to need to find out about picture in picture or 4 pictures or something. It was so intense. I wore out the remote changing channels back and forth.

Ok enough about last Saturday's games. The Tip Sheet for this week is out from the guys at www.the-ozone.net and I had to post it to share it with you guys who love to watch college football like myself. We'll have the flags out and we'll be enjoying the Buckeye game and as well as some of the others mentioned here. It's a great thing!

Go Buckeyes!! and Go Bulldogs!!

A little LTJ Bukem in the morning doesn't hurt

I first came across LTJ Bukem thanks to Sirius. They were playing some of his beats and they were mesmerizing. I thought I'd share this video of LTJ Bukem (the guy manning the turntable) and MC Conrad(the guy singing). I don't know where it's filmed but it's a nice beat. If you haven't hear LTJ Bukem before, his music has a refined tune to it. It's amazing what he can do with it. Just visit Amazon and do a search for his "Journey Inwards" CD and read the reviews. I own it.

Archie Says "Hello"

I thought I'd post this recent photo of Archie. This was taken on Saturday morning as we scurried around during the Atlantis Launch countdown. Archie jumped on the bed and got all crazy too. Here is this photo I took of him. Enjoy.

One year ago tonight we were packed in the car...

A year ago today, we left Chicagoland in pursuit of warm weather and sunny days. At this same time one year ago tonight, Jenny, Archie and I were in Louisville, after having driven 2.5 hours just to get from the far northern suburbs out to I-65. It was a very fun trip since Jenny and I took our time driving down to Orlando with Archie.

Tonight we both remember our cute little house we had in the far northern suburbs from our cute little house here in Orlando. I'm sure I speak for Jenny when I say that we miss our friends from Chicagoland very much, but we find that life in Central Florida is exciting. There is a lot of growth going on here and with growth comes some headaches and patience is required. But it's electrifying to be seeing so many people moving into the area from all over the US and abroad. It's nice to be able to look out our backyard and see the shuttle Atlantis taking off (see photo in this post taken on Saturday morning 9/9 from our backyard). It's nice to be able to drive down to Key West for the weekend. As summer winds down for most, down here it means roadtrips to visit surrounding cities and beaches on day trips. So long as they do not conflict with College Football of course.

For those of you counting, I have already taken more afternoon walks around the neighborhood with Jenny and Archie than I ever did up in Chicagoland. It's nice to take walks in the neighborhood here. It's great to be closer to so much more. But that's not to say we don't miss that great Chicago skyline, or Deerfield's bakery or Metra or even the great museums. So we plan to come back and visit Chicago next year sometime to catch up with our friends.

Jenny and I often times pinch ourselves because we cannot believe we made the move down from a plan we made. Tonight we stare at the napkin on which we wrote (while in line for the Star Wars III premiere in Schaumburg last spring) the date we agreed upon as our target move date. We also signed that little napkin. When you set a goal, it's important to tie a date to it and write it somewhere so that it stares you in the face each morning. That way you are reminded of your deadline and know the clock is ticking... Tick Tock... Tick Tock...

Don't forget: A risk not taken, is an opportunity lost.

While my friends up North enjoy the dark days of late Fall and Winter, we'll be debating whether to go to the Gulf, Miami or the Atlantic for the day. Or maybe we'll just enjoy one of our Disney parks.
Good Night :)
