A House Divided

It's Saturday, September 2nd. The flags are up and we are within an hour and a half from ESPN College Gameday at 10am. We installed the flag holder brackets yesterday. Jenny helped me with them while I talked on the phone to Casey, getting ready for all the craziness in Columbus. We caulked the perimeter of the brackets and the inside of them to seal any holes we made into the masonry. They look great. The only thing we need now is some wind. We had plenty of it in Chicago, but here it's still. This morning we hung up the flags for gameday and I took this photo of the flags from our porch. The flags will only be hung on gameday mornings and then taken down that evening.
Go Buckeyes! (for Gabe) and Go Georgia! (for Jenny)

It's GAMEDAY.

DAY 1 of the 2006 College Football Season is here!

The games begin tonight ladies and gentlemen!! And with the start of the season comes the famous Tom's Tip Sheet from the folks over at www.the-ozone.net . While I don't gamble, I still find the tip sheet as more of a fun TV guide and keep it near me and the remote for the games of interest. So check out this weekend's lineup of great college football beginning tonight and continuing through Monday!! Click Here to view the Tip Sheet!

The Shuttle didn't go into the garage (VAB)

It's Baaaaccck!
In an unprecedented move NASA literally put the brakes on the crawler taking Atlantis back into the garage and said "nuh-uh". They decided to bring it back out to the launchpad after information they received regarding the weakening of Tropical Storm Ernesto. Now I won't have to wait until late October to see this puppy go up to the Space Station and drop off this 17 ton p3/p4 truss with solar arrays. NICE! Read the full story by clicking here.

Here comes our friend Ernesto...

It's one of the sunniest days in Orlando today. It's hot and one friend told me that it's the calm before the storm. I don't know about that. But what I do know is that we are having some company here tomorrow. Our friend Ernie is dropping by. Schools in the area have already closed for tomorrow and people are watching and waiting. It's kind of like in the movie "Airplane" when it's all quiet at night and they are waiting for the plane to come in on approach. All you hear is some suspense music and the dalmation barking into the night. That's how it will be here. We'll see what Ernie brings over for breakfast, lunch and dinner on Wednesday. I'm just ticked they had to postpone the shuttle launch and bring that back into the garage. Everything happens for a reason right? I guess we may have better weather when it tries to launch again in October. As Lewis Black once said... "Don't Go Out!!! Don't Go Out!!! It's the word storm EVER!!!" . Gameday is here in a few days!

With Ernesto making it's way up the caribbean and on its way into the gulf, we only hope that it doesn't impede on the upcoming kickoffs! The gameplan package has been ordered. The beer is in the fridge. My Buckeye Polo is ironed and my calendar has been blocked. Ahh.. Enjoy this video I found about college football on YouTube. Go Bucks!
